Spearfish Classical Christian School holds true that God is evident and part of every aspect of education. He is sovereign in history, evident in creation and intimately concerned with your child’s life. These truths are imparted through Bible history, Bible memorization, creation science and the existence of God’s hand throughout their academic study. This integrated approach will give the child a comprehensive Christian view of their world. We are a nondenominational school that stands on the truth of Biblical principles and adheres to the fact that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.
SCCS respects the child, their family, and their church. We do not claim to take the place of the student’s family or their church; we are here to reinforce those relationships. We respect the fact that God has given the family the primary role of director of their child’s education, and we are committed to partnering with the family in that endeavor. The parent also acknowledges their commitment to supporting the school, its policies and procedures as we participate with them in the education of their child.
We strive to attract students from all economic levels and serve the community as a whole. All families go through a screening process before acceptance into SCCS. Because of our limited resources, we are unable to accommodate for any academic or developmental special needs. Our students must be able to meet average academic standards that include average reading and writing scores on nationally standardized tests.
We follow the philosophy of classical theory set forth by Dorothy Sayers in her essay, The Lost Tools of Learning. This style adheres to the three levels of learning within the Trivium: the Grammar Stage (grades K-6), the Logic Stage (grades 7 & 8), and the Rhetorical Stage (grades 9-12).
Ultimately, our goal is to train young men and women to become Christian leaders and to impart to others the truth of God set forth by His word.
We know the plans He has for his children are good! (Jeremiah 19:11-13)
